Europe Day #9 May 2015: United in Diversity

This year, Pusat Studi Jerman (Pusman) UGM in collaboration with Programme on European Studies – Institute of
International Studies, Universitas Gadjah Mada (Euros-IIS UGM) conducted “Europe Day #9 May 2015: United in DIversity”. This event held in Yogyakarta as celebration of Europe Day (9 May, the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration which set a new idea of political cooperation in Europe).

There are two main event that lasted from 11-13 May 2015, which are Free Trial Course in European Languages and European Exhibition. Free Trial Course in European Languages provided participants with several courses such as Spanish, German, French, and Hungarian and could attract 250 participants which mostly students. Meanwhile, the European Exhibition organized in the following day in May 13th, divided into 4 activities which are European Scholarship Session, Booth Expo, Food Bazaar, and Art Performances. The event that held in Pusat Kebudayaan Koesnadi Hardjasoemantri UGM (PKKH UGM) invited five academic institution from several countries in Europe to present their Scholarship Program in Scholarship Info Session. During the Scholarship Info Session, there were Booth Expo from partners with different categories from academic and community booths until European Food stalls. The visitors also could enjoy the performances from Indonesian and European artists who perform the either traditional or modern art from their respective country.

Overall this event was successfully organized and this kind of non-academic event hopefully could encourage students to study in Europe or to study European issues.
