1 September 2013 became a special day for EU Delegation to Indonesia as the new Head of Delegation, H.E. Olof Skoog, officially started his 5 years-term in Jakarta. H.E. Skoog is a Swedish diplomat who chaired the Political and Security Committee since 2010, which considered as one of the most senior position in the EU diplomatic service. In PSC, he deals with EU civilian and military missions abroad. Previously he had served as Sweden Ambassador to Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, and Ecuador before appointed as Sweden Permanent Representation to the EU in 2007.
The ambassador stated that Indonesia’s astonishing democratic transition and his childhood-experience living in Indonesia as the most attractive aspects in his new post. He added that establishment of Free Trade Agreement between Indonesia and European Union, support for Indonesian education sector, and partnerships in tackling climate changes issues would be the main agenda during his leadership.
